Kirsten Winton BSc (Hons) MCSP
Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapist
Kirsten qualified as a physiotherapist in 1996, bringing a wealth of experience to her role, with the majority of her career dedicated to pelvic health.
After graduating, she began her career at The Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, completing a broad range of junior rotations across medical and surgical specialties. It was during these early years that she discovered her passion for women’s health, and since 1999 she has specialised in this field.
Kirsten has worked across a number of NHS settings including Hexham Hospital, where she was based within the maternity unit, supporting women through pregnancy and postnatal recovery, as well as treating a wide range of pelvic floor conditions for people of all genders. Her experience also includes supporting patients with pregnancy-related musculoskeletal pain, pelvic pain, and rehabilitation following breast cancer treatment.
She has also played a key role in service development, helping to establish a new ante and postnatal physiotherapy service within The Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust, and later becoming the first physiotherapist to work within the Colorectal Pelvic Floor Clinic at the RVI.
Kirsten is an affiliate member of the POGP (Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy professional network), and is passionate about providing compassionate, person-centred care. She creates a safe and supportive space where you feel listened to, understood, and confident in your treatment plan.
Kirsten can support you with pelvic floor dysfunction, bladder problems (leakage, urgency, frequency), bowel issues (constipation, leakage), prolapse, pelvic pain and painful intercourse, pregnancy-related musculoskeletal pain, and postnatal recovery and rehabilitation. She is also great with persistent low back pain and is qualified in acupuncture for musculoskeletal conditions and over-active bladder.
Outside of work, Kirsten enjoys running, hiking, spending time with her dogs, and getting creative with arts and crafts. She can often be spotted volunteering at parkrun too!
